The book celebrates the aesthetic pleasures of well-dressed men, starting with the refined elegance of Brummell and extending to the diverse and unique styles of contemporary tastemakers shaping men’s fashion today.

Contrary to popular belief, the dandy is not merely superficial or flamboyant, but rather a figure who combines deep thought and creativity in crafting his personal image. This defiance of societal norms and strive for individuality is a central theme throughout the book, challenging stereotypes associated with the dandy persona.

A collection of essays delve into the complex history and definitions of dandyism, exploring the significance of clothing and tailoring in dandy style, as well as the intersection of black dandyism and hip-hop culture. Additionally, the book includes reflections on iconic dandies by individuals who share a connection with their subjects, such as Patti Smith on Charles Baudelaire and Merlin Holland on Oscar Wilde.
